Harvest on Main. Unfortunately, this restaurant went from diamond to a lump of coal because of the tough, improperly cooked duck
Last October, we reviewed the restaurant describing the it as gastronomic bliss. We decided to go back. This time it was a gastronomic disappointment with a duck that was practically raw, tough and improperly rendered.
To add insult to injury the duck was a chewy tough mess that made the good flavor an afterthought. On this go around, Harvest on Main is a gastronomic disappointment. It goes from diamond to a lump of coal. With a price tag for four of $224.00, this restaurant can, and should, do better.
Fighting Town Tavern. Down the slide we went with our dining experience. The restaurant is famous for its huge pile of French Fries. We ordered them again, so far so good.
However, after the fries, we slid into a pool of disappointment. We ordered burgers…never mind which ones, because both were ordered medium and came back well done and seriously over charred. In our last review we said the south has risen again, the Fighting Town Tavern is food heaven. Not this time. With this meal, the south is sliding again, and the food is hardly food heaven, more like food purgatory.
We are leaving Blue Ridge thinking it was a once a diamond but it is now a lump of coal.
A key to a great restaurant is consistency, no matter how busy, no matter how slow and no matter how many times you eat there the food…
is always delicious, not disappointing.
We will go back, and give both a chance a redemption...when we do we will let you know if they move back from lump of coal to diamond.
We hope the 3rd time is the charm when we return.
