Bill Cosby may not have been found guilty but nothing about the mistrial changes his image. Moreover, Camille Cosby, Bill Cosby’s wife, did a heinously bad thing by issuing this statement:
"How do I describe the district attorney? Heinously and exploitatively ambitious. How do I describe the judge? Overtly arrogant in collaborating with the district attorney. How do I describe the counsels for the accusers? Totally unethical. How do I describe many but not all general media? Blatantly vicious entities that continually disseminated intentional omissions of truth for the primary purpose of greedily selling sensationalism at the expense of a human life.
"Historically people have challenged injustices. I am grateful to any of the jurors who tenaciously fought to review the evidence; which is the rightful way to make a sound decision....ultimately that is a manifestation of justice, based on facts, not lies. As a very special friend once stated, 'truth can be subdued, but not destroyed.” Quote is from The Hollywood Reporter
The statement is heinous in its substance and scope. The PR professional should have refused to read it. It is a bad idea for her client and further undermines Bill Cosby's weak credibility, regardless of whether he issued it or his wife issued it.
Accusing a judge of being overly arrogant and collaborating with the District Attorney is a wrong move. Doing so after the District Attorney announced he will retry the case adds insult to injury. Openly criticizing the Court that will try the case again is stupid.
Nothing about the statement helps improve Cosby’s situation, it worsens it.
Cosby’s image is permanently tarnished. Moreover, Camille Cosby did Bill Cosby no favors. Moreover, the PR firm did Cosby no favors.
Bottom line is Camille Cosby’s statement is the wrong move at the wrong time.
Regardless of the outcome of the new trial, Bill Cosby is tarnished. He will always have the image of being a sexual predator. There is nothing Camille Cosby, or any PR firm, can do to change that image.
Sometimes silence and humility are golden. In this instance arrogance and stupidity won out…
And Cosby will pay the price.
