Hamilton County Tennessee issued a mandate requiring people to wear masks in public.
“The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office addressed how they will enforce Mayor Jim Coppinger’s mask mandate that will go into effect at midnight on Friday July 10.
Coppinger said those who fail to comply with the mandate could face a $50 fine or up to 30 days in jail.”
The Supreme Court of The United States says:
“In our judicial system, “the public has a right to every man’s evidence.”Since the earliest days of the Republic, “every man” has included the President of the United States. Beginning with Jefferson and carrying on through Clinton, Presidents have uniformly testified or produced documents in criminal proceedings when called upon by federal courts. This case involves—so far as we and the parties can tell—the first state criminal subpoena directed to a President. The President contends that the subpoena is unenforceable. We granted certiorari to decide whether Article II and the Supremacy Clause categorically preclude, or require a heightened standard for, the issuance of a state criminal subpoena to a sitting President.”
The Tennessee Legislature Is Engaging In Partisan Sensationalism By Accusing The Press of Covid Sensationalism
This is the pot calling the kettle black. This is a GOP representative in a glass house throwing stones.
The GOP will do anything to gain the political advantage. In this instance, The Tennessee Legislature advances a resolution accusing the media of sensationalizing Covid 19. But wait…
Isn’t this resolution just as much of a political move at sensationalism to keep GOP voters in line and voting the GOP ticket?
Here are the election results from the last governor’s race in Georgia.
Brian Kemp, Republican 1,978,408
Stacey Abrams Democrat 1,923,685
Margin of victory for a white Republican against a black, woman, Democrat 54,723 votes
The Supreme Court handed Donald Trump a stinging defeat over his financial records. It did not take him long to start whining about the decision lashing out at the Court. CNBC reports Trump is claiming political prosecution.
"WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that President Trump can for now block the release of his financial records to Congress but that prosecutors in New York may see them, a stunning defeat for Mr. Trump but a decision that probably means the records will be shielded from public scrutiny until after the election, perhaps indefinitely.
The vote in both cases was 7 to 2." Read more from The New York Times
Confederate statues and monuments are coming down. Some think they are a part of preserving history, whether it is good or bad. Obviously, others think making heroes of slave owners and racists is wrong, and the statutes and monuments must be removed as a symbol of promoting equality.
To most of us, Donald Trump’s message stoking division and fear makes no political sense.
Does anyone believe that Kanye West is really running for President?
West craves attention. He has a new album coming soon. He has zero political experience, and arguably his “political love affair with Trump” was just as much of a stunt as his announcement to run for President.
Well, Mary Trump’s book also refers to Donald Trump as the world’s most dangerous man. So why not try to stop the end of democracy?
Grassley is explicit about his concerns:
“I’m not going to go, and I’m not going to go because of the virus situation…” Senator Charles Grassley (R)
Ronald Reagan is the symbol of the conservative GOP. ...or is he? Watch the video below, and ask yourself could Reagan win the presidency today?
From The Atlantic published on May 8, 2020: "Five Republican governors proudly declared victory over the coronavirus this week and offered up their response as a model for other states to follow. States can have it all, their message seemed to be: both a healthy populace and a thriving economy."
The "victory" is short lived. We, as voters and citizens, should voice our displeasure in November 2020. The political response to the Coronavirus is a practical and political failure of monumental proportions.
Trump is focused on motivating his base. He is disregarding the swing vote and is focused on appealing to the strong emotions of his base.
Donald Trump’s July 4th message is divisive. Trump’s message seeks to stoke anger among his base. He seeks no common ground. He lives in a fantasy world out of touch with reality.
He does not lead by example.
Joe Biden, on the other hand is delivering a starkly different message. The following is written by Joe Biden and published for the 4th of July:
"’We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,’ West tweeted, along with the hashtag #2020VISION.” Hollywood Reporter
(Stuart James) There are those people who rise to greatness and express greatness in their words. There are others who are elected to high office and show us just how low a person can go...distorting truth and patriotism to serve their personal needs, not the needs of our great nation.
Donald Trump: "We will expose this dangerous movement, protect our nation's children, end this radical assault and preserve our beloved American way of life,' Trump said. He mysteriously described those who would tear down statues of racist leaders from the past as 'a new far left fascism that demands absolute allegiance."
Trump is intentionally stoking divisions in our country. His goal is to divide Americans, to incite hate, to distort the truth. His comments at Mount Rushmore prove these points.
When is this going to stop?
Donald Trump lives in a reality show world. He is compelled to spin the message to keep his ratings high with his fan base. He will lie to do it. He will let people fall ill to do it. He will let people die to do it.
As we have posted in the past, masks/face coverings are effective and need to be worn. The Texas Governor's actions ordering face coverings needed to happen a long time ago.
