Joe Biden is running a set of political ads against Donald Trump. It did not take Trump long to accuse Biden of 'running false ads.'
They are designed to deliver a specific message. Oftentimes, the facts are either distorted or left out altogether. The ads are designed to invoke a response from voters. Hopefully, that response is a call to action to vote and to donate.
It did not take Trump long to respond to a set of ads being run by the Biden campaign. Trump's response is targeted and specific.
"'Corrupt Joe Biden's team is running false ads. Almost everything in them is a knowing lie, just the opposite of what they are saying, & very much like their Fake News partners!' wrote the president on Twitter." Daily Mail
According to the Daily Mail, Trump offered no specifics on how the ads were "fake news." There were no facts offered as to why everything in the ads "is a knowing lie..."
Trump's tweet is targeted to his base. The language of the tweet is designed to invoke an emotional response from his base. Trump knows how to frame the tweet to generate excitement and a response he believes is beneficial to keeping his base solid. Therefore, Trump's messaging strategy does not require him to give facts, it is designed to motivate the base to action. Trump believes it worked for him in 2016 and it will work for him again in 2020.
Here is one of the advertisements from the Biden campaign.
“If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.”
