One sexual predator endorses another. Birds of a feather, flock together.
So why is Trump endorsing Moore? Here is the key to the answer:
“…Trump on Monday offered his most explicit endorsement to date of Roy Moore, the embattled Republican Senate candidate in Alabama who stands accused of making unwanted sexual advances on teenagers when he was in his 30s.
‘We need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama,’ Trump declared in an early morning tweet, leaving no question that he was supporting a Senate nominee that many other Republican leaders have repudiated and called upon to quit the race.
Trump tweeted: ‘Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!’” The Washington Post
It comes down to keeping the GOP majority in the Senate. Trump desperately needs that majority to keep his legislative agenda on life support, he needs the vote to win on issues like “The Great Wall of Trump.” His endorsement is about keeping a solid majority in the Senate, he cannot afford to lose one vote.
Like Moore, he deflects away from the sexual predator issue using the Pelosi/Schumer Puppet argument, playing on Alabama’s strong distaste for Democrats. After all, Trump knows that if Jesus Christ were a democrat, he would lose in Alabama.
December 12 will tell us if the Trump endorsement matters.
