“When asked how she would explain Trump's tweets to her children, Sarah Sanders (Huckabee’s daughter) explains so very simply…
‘Look, I've been asked before, when it comes to role models, as a person of faith, I think we all have one perfect role model and when I'm asked that question, I point to God. I point to my faith and that's where I would tell me kids to look. None of us are perfect and certainly there's only one that is and that's where I would point that direction.’ From a Facebook post.
Trump’s conduct is not about being human, or making mistakes. Trump’s tweets trashing Morning Joe and CNN are a course of intentional conduct, undertaking course of action to go into the gutter and to play gutter politics, at its worst. Donald Trump is not making a human error due to human frailties. He is taking a deliberate course of action by acting like a bully and beating up on his opposition. Therefore, Sarah Sanders is simply wrong, there is no defending Donald Trump’s conduct. He is the President and he needs to look at himself hard in the mirror asking the question:
What would Ronald Reagan do?
We can assure everyone that Ronald Reagan would not let loose on a demoralizing and degrading Twitter rant in response to any criticism that would be made against him. Reagan, the darling of the conservative movement, would make measured responses fitting of the office he occupied.
Trump is incapable of doing the same thing.
So, Sarah Sanders, quit making excuses. Ask Trump to ask himself the question “What would Ronald Reagan do” before he even thinks about tweeting again.
