The DNC is without direction, it has no defined plan, no defined message. It is pulling against itself trying to find a direction that leads Democrats to victory. It is failing and as evidence of that failure it is not raising money from donors who appear to be done with the DNC.
“Donors, small and large, are so over the party," said Nebraska party chair Jane Kleeb, summing up the problem facing DNC chairman Tom Perez and his counterparts in the states. Kleeb, who is working on grassroots fundraising efforts for the committee, said she believes the money will come eventually.
"Everybody thinks that some magic three-page document and some magic tagline is going to turn everything around for us," she added. "But this is very typical work." Politico
…and this is the problem. The political climate is changing, and democrats see their situation as politics as usual. The fact is democrats need that three page document delivering a defined message appealing to people’s emotions while providing solutions. With the DNC there is no marketing plan, and no effort to abandon the politics as usual agenda. Therefore, donors, and voters, believe that the DNC is irrelevant.
So far, the lack of a strategic message, and a failure of the Democratic leaders in Congress to show it is not politics as usual, is driving a stake in the fundraising heart. Ultimately, unless the DNC machine changes course the stake my be driven through the election heart with democrats blowing an historic opportunity.
